Biography
1929
Born on 12. June in Vinnitsa in the Ukraine
1948-54
Studies architecture at Odessa Institute of Engineering and Construction.
Studies drawing and painting at the evening classed of the Odessa School of Art.
1954
Moves to Novosibirsk and works as an architect.
1955
Contributes to his first group exhibition in Novosibirsk.
1956
Quits his job to become an artist. Engeges in studio graphic art. Meets the Siberian artist Nikolai Gritsyk.
1957
Illustrates his first book (illustrates more than 120 titles, mostly children’s books, by 1990)
1967
First one-man show at the Union of Artists in Novosibirsk.
1968
Admited into the Union of Artists.
1970
Meets the Moscow artist Victor Pivovarov and such other Conseptualists from the Stretensky Boulevard group
as Ilya Kabakov, Vladimir Yankilevsky, Ivan Chuikov and Eric Bulatov.
1973-1974
Moves to Moscow. Makes his first oil painting.
1977

From 1991 to 2004
Lives and works in Russia and Germany.
